Day Trip to Ouzoud Waterfalls from Marrakech

Marrakech – Ouzoud Waterfalls

Join us on a 1-day excursion from Marrakech to the magnificent Ouzoud Waterfalls located about 150 kilometers northeast of Marrakech. Our adventure begins with a convenient pick-up from your hotel or riad at 08:30 AM.

You will be transported in a comfortable and air-conditioned minibus, sharing this experience with a small group of fellow travelers (maximum 17). Enjoy a picturesque 3-hour drive passing through the enchanting Tadla plains adorned with olive tree farms, apricots, and peaches

En route, a convenient stop will be made at a gas station, providing an opportunity to grab a quick snack or stretch your legs in preparation for the rest of the journey.

Upon reaching the village of Ouzoud, you have the choice to independently discover the surroundings, or you may consider hiring a knowledgeable local guide who will accompany you for a fee of $3 per person.

You will spend the day exploring the area, allowing you ample time to admire the majestic falls from different viewpoints. The first stop you make is at the top of the falls, where you get the above scenery. Although this initial sight may captivate you, rest assured that it is merely the least fascinating view!

Next, you will hike to the bottom of the falls for another unique vantage point. While the hike is not particularly steep, there are some areas with rocky terrain, so you’ll want to wear tennis shoes or hiking sandals at the bare minimum.

From the bottom, take pleasure in the breathtaking sight of the waterfalls that gracefully cascade down from a remarkable height of over 110 meters. As you witness this awe-inspiring spectacle, you will be captivated by the enchanting sight of a permanent rainbow that adorns the scene.

The sheer force and thunderous sound of the water plummeting from such incredible heights will leave you in awe. For those seeking an adventurous experience, there is the opportunity to dive into the cool waters of the natural pools created by the cascading falls.

Once you finish swimming, your guide will gather the group to go over the main Ouzoud falls area. You have to cross over to the other side. There are three options available: traversing a small bridge, swimming across, or opting for a boat ride for a fee of $2.

After everyone has safely crossed over, you can proceed to the next viewpoint where you’ll find some Barbary macaques. These friendly primates, also known as Barbary apes, are indigenous to North Africa and are famous for their mischievous nature. Have your camera ready to capture some amazing close-up shots.

If you walk a little bit further, there is another viewpoint that offers breathtaking views of the gorge itself, although it may not be suitable for those with a fear of heights.

Take a break at a quaint café by the stream to enjoy a light lunch and unwind before making your way back to the village.

Once you are ready, your driver will transport you back to Marrakech. The day trip will conclude in the late afternoon, typically between 7-8 PM, depending on traffic. You will be dropped off either at your hotel or the nearest accessible point near your riad.
