4 Days Tour from Marrakech to Fes Sahara Tour Highlights
Our exciting expedition begins with a prompt 07:30 am pickup from your hotel or the nearest accessible point. Get ready for an unforgettable experience filled with breathtaking landscapes, historical landmarks, and cultural encounters.
The road ahead takes us through the breathtaking Tizi-n-Tichka pass, a majestic route that reaches an altitude of 2260m.
Be prepared to be enthralled as you gaze upon the breathtaking views of traditional Berber villages harmoniously embraced by the towering peaks of the majestic High Atlas Mountains. You will have enough time to take photos and stretch your legs.
Stop 1: Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou
Our first stop along the way is the renowned UNESCO World Heritage site, Ait Benhaddou. This historic treasure has captured the hearts of filmmakers, serving as the backdrop for famous movies like “Gladiator” and “Lawrence of Arabia,” as well as being featured on the beloved TV series “Game of Thrones.”
Immerse yourself in the rich history and captivating architecture of this ancient Kasbah accompanied by a local Berber village guide. Afterwards, we will treat ourselves to a delectable lunch at one of the charming restaurants nestled at the foothills of the kasbahs.
Stop 2: Ouarzazate
Post-lunch, we proceed with the adventure to Ouarzazate. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to explore Taourirt Kasbah, a renowned palace previously owned by the influential Glaoui tribe that governed this area during the 19th century. You can also explore the vast Atlas Studios, considered one of the world’s largest open-air film studios.
Stop 3: Boumalne Dades
Leaving Ouarzazate behind, we will venture on a scenic drive along the road of the Kasbahs to the oasis of Skoura, where lush greenery thrives at the desert.
Our exploration will also include exploring he magnificent Kasbah of Amrdil—, a great example of Moroccan architecture and history. Along the way, you’ll also catch glimpses of the vibrant Rose Damascena blooms that decorate the Valley of Roses.
We will conclude the day with a drive along the road of 1001 Kasbahs and the Dades Valley, where you will see the spectacular rock formations known as “The Monkey Feet and Gorges. We will retreat to a charming hotel nestled near the picturesque Dades canyons. Indulge at the comfort of your accommodations and savor a delectable traditional dinner.
Stop 1: Tinghir
Following a delightful breakfast, we’ll embark on an exhilarating journey from Dades Gorges to the Merzouga. But before we reach our destination, we will veer off the beaten path to discover the hidden treasure of Tinghir.
Once a mighty military stronghold during the French occupation of Morocco in the 1960s, now boasts a captivating tale that yearns to be told. You will join a local guide for a stroll along the stream, where you will see the farmers working on their farms.
End your morning stroll with the magnificent views of the Todra canyons, a series of limestone cliffs that rise up to 300 meters above the river.
Stop 2: Rissani
We proceed to Rissani in the afternoon, a sacred city and the birthplace of the Alaouite Dynasty that governs Morocco to this day.
We will make a stop at the dates market before we recommence to Merzouga, and taste some of the local varieties of this sweet fruit. You can also explore the historical landmarks of Rissani, such as the Moulay Ali Cherif Mausoleum, the Sijilmassa ruins, and the Ksar El Fida.
Stop 3: Merzouga
We will arrive at Merzouga during the evening. Enjoy a traditional dinner and have the pleasure of staying overnight at a charming lodge located just a stone’s throw away from the magnificent dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Stop 1: Khamlia
After a delicious breakfast, we will leave our hotel and head to the village of Khamlia. The town is famous for its culture and the unique style of music, called Gwana, which combines traditional African rhythms with Islamic chants and poetry.
Experience the enchanting melodies of a live musical performance while savoring a cup of mint tea in the company of Berber nomads. During lunch we will have a classic Berber pizza at the old capital of Rissani and experience the tastes of real local food.
Stop 2: Erg Chebbi
We will meet our camel caravan in the afternoon and ride them across the golden sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. Witness a breathtaking desert sunset over the dunes as you venture towards the camp.
Upon arrival, our friendly staff will greet you with tea and friendly faces. They will guide you to your own cozy and well-appointed tents, designed to ensure your utmost relaxation.
Delicious dinner will be served under the stars right by the campfire. Venture to the nearest dune and marvel at the breathtaking view of the starry night and maybe even spot some shooting stars or constellations. Feel free to join the local nomads and enjoy some Berber music and entertainment.
Stop 1: Merzouga

After marveling at the beauty of the sunrise, we’ll return to our camp to fuel up for the day ahead with a hearty breakfast. And then, it’s time to bid farewell to the captivating dunes and head back to Merzouga to meet your driver to travel to Fes.

Stop 2: Crossing the High Atlas Mountains
Leaving the desert behind, we embark on a picturesque journey north, guided by the majestic High Atlas Mountains.
Our route will take us through several charming towns, each offering a unique glimpse into the rich cultural tapestry of Morocco. First, we will pass through Erfoud, a town known for its fossil discoveries and budding film industry.
Next, we will arrive at Errachidia, where the ochre-colored buildings contrast beautifully against the backdrop of the desert. And then comes Midelt, a charming town situated in the core of the Middle Atlas Mountains and known for its vibrant marketplaces.
But the journey doesn’t conclude with these towns alone. You will also have the opportunity to explore the Cedar forests of Azrou, where wild monkeys frolic amidst the trees. This breathtaking natural oasis provides the perfect setting for a leisurely lunch break.
As you savor a delicious meal, don’t forget to capture some amazing photographs of these playful creatures in their native environment.
Stop 3: Fes
After lunch, we resume our northward drive, each passing mile bringing us closer to our final destination – Fes.
