3 Days Tour From Marrakech To Fes

Day 1: Marrakech – Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou – Boulmane-Dades

Stop 1: High Atlas Mountains and Tizi N’Tichka pass

We commence the 3-day tour from Marrakech to Fes by picking you up from your hotel or riad early in the morning at around 08h00 AM. Our route traverses the enchanting High Atlas Mountains and includes a memorable drive over the Tizi-N-Tichka pass, which is 2260m high and offers a panoramic view of the surrounding area

You will be amazed by the stunning views of the valleys, the peaks, and the villages that dot the landscape. You will have the opportunity to take some photos, stretch your legs, and admire the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.

Stop 2: Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou

We will continue our drive to the famous Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most impressive and well-preserved fortified villages in Morocco. This kasbah has been used as a backdrop for many Hollywood movies, such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and Game of Thrones.

You will have a guided tour of the kasbah, where you will learn about its history, architecture, and culture. You will also have some free time to explore the narrow alleys, the towers, and the courtyards of this ancient citadel.

Stop 3: Ouarzazate

After visiting the kasbah, we will head to Ouarzazate, also known as the Hollywood of Africa. This city is home to the largest film studios in Africa, where many famous movies and TV shows have been filmed, such as The Mummy, The Prince of Persia, and The Crown.

You will have the chance to visit one of the studios and see some of the props and sets used in the productions. You will also have lunch at a local restaurant, where you can taste some of the delicious dishes of the region, such as tagine, couscous, and harira.

Stop 4: Skoura and Amridil

After lunch, we will drive to the oasis of Skoura, a green paradise in the middle of the desert. Skoura is known for its palm groves, its rose gardens, and its ancient kasbahs. We will stop at one of the most beautiful and well-preserved kasbahs in the area, the Kasbah Amridil.

This kasbah dates back to the 17th century and has been restored to its original glory. You will have a guided tour of the kasbah, where you will see its impressive architecture, its decorated rooms, and its museum that displays some of the traditional tools and crafts of the region.

Stop 5: Boulmane-Dades

We will end our day in the valley of Boulmane-Dades, also known as the valley of the roses. This valley is famous for its abundant rose cultivation and its annual rose festival, where the locals celebrate the harvest of the roses and make various products from them, such as rose water, rose oil, and rose soap.

You will have the opportunity to see the rose fields, the rose cooperatives, and the rose shops along the way. You will also admire the spectacular scenery of the valley, with its rock formations, gorges, and kasbahs. We will reach our charming boutique guest house in the evening, where you can relish a delicious meal and unwind for the night.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Tinghir - Merzouga

On the second day of your 3-day tour from Marrakech to Fes, following a filling breakfast, we embark on a scenic drive through the road of 1001 Kasbahs, which is a scenic route that passes through many fortified villages and ancient castles.

These kasbahs were built by the local tribes to protect themselves from invaders and to serve as trading posts for the caravans that crossed the Sahara.

You will be able to admire the architecture and the history of these kasbahs, some of which are still inhabited by the descendants of the original builders.

Stop 1: Tinghir Oasis and Todgha Gorges

We will then arrive at Tinghir, a town that was once a military post during the French occupation. From there, we will deviate into a secondary road to reach the oasis, where you will see a lush green valley surrounded by barren mountains.

You can stroll along the stream and discover the rustic life of the people who farm the land and look after the animals. You will also see the irrigation system that allows the cultivation of palm trees, olive trees, and other crops.

Our walk will end at one of the most spectacular sights of your tour: Todgha Gorges. These are a series of narrow canyons that have been carved by the Todgha River over millions of years. The gorges are up to 300 meters high and only 10 meters wide at some points.

You will feel the awe and the wonder of nature as you walk through these gorges and hear the sound of the water echoing on the walls.

We will have lunch at one of the local cafes, where you can taste the delicious cuisine of the region.

Stop 2: Rissani

After lunch, we will continue our journey to Rissani, one of the holiest towns in Morocco. This is the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty, the current ruling family of Morocco. You will visit the mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif, the founder of the dynasty, and learn about his legacy and his influence on the history of Morocco.

Rissani is also famous for being the starting point of the ancient caravan routes that used to connect Morocco with Timbuktu and other sub-Saharan cities. You will see the remnants of the old ksars, the fortified palaces that housed the merchants and the travelers.

In the afternoon, we will leave Rissani and head to Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara desert. On the way, you will be amazed by the contrast between the green oasis and the golden sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, the largest and the highest dunes in Morocco.

Stop 3: The town of Merzouga and the camp in the Sahara

Upon our arrival at the captivating town of Merzouga in the afternoon, an extraordinary adventure awaits us. We will embark on an incredible journey by riding camels across the mesmerizing sand dunes.

During this experience, we will take a memorable break on a high dune, where you can marvel at the magnificent sky changing its hues as the sun sets.

Afterward, we will proceed to your camp in the Sahara, surrounded by a captivating atmosphere created by the rhythmic beats of Berber drums around a cozy campfire. Under the vast open sky dotted with countless stars, you will savor a tasty dinner and experience a tranquil night in the camp.

Day 3: The Town of Merzouga – Midelt – Fes

Stop 1: Riding camels in the Sunrise and Breakfast

We will kickstart our day bright and early by embarking on a camel journey across the mesmerizing golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Admire the breathtaking vistas of the sun ascending and painting the landscape with vibrant hues, all while basking in the serene tranquility that envelops the Sahara.

After about an hour of riding on camels, we will make our way back to the accommodation provided by the camp operator in Merzouga. There, we will indulge in a mouth-watering breakfast and a refreshing shower.

Tip: If you choose to upgrade to the luxury camp, you will have breakfast and shower at your private tent in Sahara camp, which is equipped with all the amenities you need.

Stop 2: Drive to Midelt

After breakfast, we will meet our driver/guide and depart on a scenic drive to Midelt, crossing the Ziz Valley, which is famous for its palm groves and gorges. Along the way, we will pass by Errachidia, the capital of the Tafilat region and a major administrative and economic center in eastern Morocco.

We will also see the Ziz River, which is the longest river in Morocco and a vital source of water for the local population and agriculture.

We will arrive in Midelt around noon and have lunch at leisure in one of the local restaurants.

Stop 3: Drive to Fes

After lunch, we will continue our drive to Fes, crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains, which are home to the largest sprawling forests of cedar trees in Morocco and a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna. We will stop at Imouzzar, a charming Berber town that is known for its apple production and its annual festival of apples and honey.

We will also explore Ifran, a charming mountain retreat often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco” owing to its charming alpine design and weather. This enchanting town is also renowned for its popularity among winter sports enthusiasts, attracting avid skiers and snowboarders from all around.

As we travel, we may encounter some of the native monkeys of North Africa, called barbary macaques. They inhabit the forests of coniferous trees in the region. Our driver will stop for you to take pictures.

We will arrive in Fes late in the afternoon and your 3 days trip Marrakech to Fes will end with a drop-off at your hotel or riad.
