2 Days Desert Tour From Fes

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Middle Atlas Mountains – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

Stop 1: Ifrane

We will start our journey from Fes at around 08:00 and make our way towards the incredible destination of Merzouga. Our first stop will be in the charming town of Ifrane, often referred to as the little Switzerland of Morocco.

As we arrive, you will be greeted by the beautiful alpine-style architecture, lush gardens, and clean streets. We will take a moment to relax and have a cup of coffee, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere of Ifrane.

Stop 2: Azrou

Continuing our journey, we will then head to the cedar forest of Azrou. This forest is the natural habitat of Barbary apes, a species of monkeys that are native to Morocco. Here, you will have an incredible opportunity to get up close and personal with these fascinating creatures.

You can interact with them, feed them, and capture some funny photos. And if that’s not enough, we will also visit a wonderful tree in the forest that is believed to be over 800 years old, providing the perfect backdrop for some memorable pictures.

Stop 3: Midelt

Leaving the cedar forest, we will drive through the majestic Middle Atlas Mountains. As we ascend, we will be treated to breathtaking landscapes and crisp, fresh air. We will make several stops along the way to fully appreciate the beauty of this mountainous region.

After a morning filled with scenic views, we will stop at a local restaurant in Midelt, also known as the capital apple of Morocco. Here, you will enjoy a delicious lunch, savoring the local flavors and replenishing your energy for the rest of the day.

Stop 4: Exploring the Ziz Valley

After our meal, we continue our journey, ascending the Tizi-n-Talghemt pass, also known as the she-camel pass. The views from this vantage point are nothing short of awe-inspiring, with sweeping panoramas of the rugged landscape below.

Following the pass, we travel along the picturesque Ziz Valley, an oasis dotted with lush palm trees and traditional villages. This tranquil landscape is a true feast for the eyes, and we’ll make several stops along the way to soak in the beauty of the valley.

Stop 5: Merzouga

As the afternoon unfolds, we finally reach our destination – the magical desert town of Merzouga. Here, your camels and guide eagerly await to take you on an exhilarating journey across the mesmerizing Erg Chebbi dunes.

As the sun sets, we will reach a high dune, the perfect vantage point to enjoy the breathtaking view.

At the camp, you’ll be greeted by the soothing sound of traditional Berber music. In the heart of this enchanting setting, you’ll enjoy a sumptuous dinner under a starry sky, savoring the flavors of a traditional Berber tajine and sipping on refreshing mint tea.

After the show, it’s time to retreat to your desert tent for a night like no other, marking the end of your first day of the 2 Days trip from Fes to Merzouga.

Day 2: Merzouga – Rissani – Fes

Today we highly recommend waking up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the mighty Sahara Desert.

After soaking in this magical experience, we will head back to our camp, where a delicious and hearty breakfast awaits you. Indulge in freshly baked bread, fragrant mint tea, and other culinary delights that will energize you for the day ahead.

Stop 1: Rissani

Starting our journey to Fess, we will make our way to Rissani, a historic town that was once the capital of the Tafilalet region and the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty, the current ruling family of Morocco.

Rissani is also famous for its lively souk (market) and if we are lucky enough to visit on a market day (Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday), you have the opportunity to interact with friendly locals, and perhaps even find a unique souvenir to remember your journey by.

Stop 2: Fes

Leaving Rissani behind, we will continue our adventure as we travel back to the captivating city of Fes. Our route will take us through Erfoud, a picturesque town known for its palm groves and fossil discoveries.

As we pass through the scenic Ziz Valley once again, take in the breathtaking vistas of lush greenery and towering cliffs, creating a striking contrast against the surrounding desert landscape.

Along the way, we will pause to enjoy a delicious lunch in a Berber village, as well as pay a visit to local nomads residing in caves at Mouzar. During this visit, you will have the opportunity to share a cup of refreshing mint tea, immerse yourself in their way of life, and gain insights into the rich culture and history of Moroccan Berbers.

As the day draws to a close, we will reach Fes in the evening and drop you off at your chosen accommodation, concluding your private tour from Fes.
